I personaly wouldn't do anything, you have got a refund and a £50 voucher...Thankfully nothings wrong and you can move on..
Edit: You wouldn't of had to leave work and go see the world....You may of had to take a week off work after surgery as glaucoma is operable.0 -
Thanks for your reply and advice.....Apparently not. The optometrist said that according to the results I have substantial irretrievable damage. It rang true as I do have some blind spots on reading making me slower than I used to be. He was most concerned because I am 48, in great general health and my blood pressure is low. He referred me on with that concern in mind, but having sent other clients in to the local hospital opthalmic dept. and having received reports back that he was doing so erroneously he did not want to tarnish his own name further either. Its very complex and I've tried to simplify it. I must admit that I was planning to take the offer which they state is "full and final" but give him the copies of all my paperwork so that he can defend himself if needs be.
He has been blamed and reprimanded, yet he didn't perform the FOV tests, and he didn't adjust the glasses. Yes, the prescription he gave is very wrong, but is that down to faulty equipment.? Tesco seemed more upset that he referred me outside of their store, which stinks. I have also found another friend was wrongly diagnosed- if the equipment is faulty it is a public health issue. They point blank denied fault in their equipment.0 -

If you have genuine concerns it maybe worth contacting the GOC....General Optical Council..(sorry can't post the link).0 -
Yes, just checked- its called normal pressure glaucoma and the optic nerve damage is irreversible.0

Thank you-this might be a good idea. I'm still worried, I think that's why I'm so bothered by it. The optometrist I first saw was originally medically trained so I was surprised that he might be making errors- he was so thorough, taking most of an hour with me; I knew he was worried and in an impossible situation, either Tesco, the hospital or the optical council kicking him up the backside. He didn't want to fail me. He said that aside from his professional and human concern for me, he didn't want to get struck off for not following it up, neither could he wind the hospital up any further sending another client erroneously!
Thank you again, I think you helped me to clarify!0 -
There are glasses and glasses. I have a fairly severe prescription and cheap lenses simply don't work for me. Had a test, glasses & contacts from Vision Express & just couldn't see. Awful distortion. I have to have a better quality of materials in order to have clear vision.
Having said that, I dread to think how much a new pair of glasses might cost me - I hate the insane prices for frames and the fact they cannot seem to tell me how physically wide the lenses will be in "frame-less" frames - for that money, I think they ought to be able to calculate / specify the width.0 -

You would be far more upset if you could not see.
Your eyesight is priceless , if it cost you a lot of money, pay it .
ps My glasses regularly cost me over £400 and that is nearly 20% cheaper than five years ago .
But I will admit my prescription is off the standard price chart and I have ALL the extra's. i.e zeiss lenses0
