yahoo contact details

Hi
This is a post for anyone who has ever had difficulty getting in contact with yahoo.
3 days ago my yahoo mail had been hacked into. Every time I tried to access my account an error message came up and then later on when I tried to sign in with password it said my password was incorrect,(it wasn't, but a hacker changed it) when I went to the retrieval page (forgot email send to alternative email/phone number) the mobile number I initially used to get my new password retrieval had been changed to email addresses that were not mine, so any new password reset would be sent straight to hackers email address for retrieval.
So I tried to get in contact with yahoo via there help page and filled out a form but they never got back to me. I tried the contact number in London and they said they didn't deal with technical side and that I should fill out the online help form (which still has not got back to me 3 days after request for help).
I googled uk yahoo helpline, contact numbers yahoo etc. and it came back with loads of numbers of which some didn't work, or I got redirected to another number which was disconnected or got put through to so called yahoo technical support who said they can fix my problem but would have to pay them £149.99 to fix it because they said I had a virus on my computer and I needed to down load there security programme to resolve the problem or my bank detail could be at risk if I ever used my computer for online banking. The emails I sent came back as failed or no one replied.
I ended up having to purposely block my email account by putting different passwords in several times . a message came up saying I had to wait 24hrs before resetting my password and if I couldn't wait to call a telephone number based in usa (call usa ! I already had read from previous yahoo members trying to contact them they had to wait hours on the phone before getting through). Needless to say I wasn't going to take that option and end up with a huge phone bill.
So I googled again yahoo contact and through scrolling through many pages I found this solution....
When your email is blocked it will ask you if you cant wait? click on that and it will give you a reference number and a toll free usa number to call, the telephone number I got was 1-800-730-2669./ (if that number doesn't work try calling 1-800-318-0612)
Now if you have a Skype account then you can call it from there free of charge.(make sure pick USA on the list of countries before putting the rest of the number in)
I did not so I downloaded the app on my mobile and called the number using Skype initially when I got through they said they were closed and there opening hours wher 4am till 8pm. so I called again a few hours later when they were open, I had to wait 40 minutes until I got through to someone but it was well worth the wait (if you would like to know the instructions they gave me to get back into my account let me know and I will post it).
I did not incur any phone charges from my mobile phone service provider (please note I am with THREE and have a contract)
I was so relieved when I got back in to my account as you can imagine, and when I checked the security page I could see there had been activity from a source in India (not me) and the email address they had used to send retrievals too. I subsequently have changed all my security settings, security questions and passwords.
Sorry this is such a long thread but I wanted to get all the relevant information for anyone in the same boat. the thought of someone else having access to my email had me worried sick (all my personal details and ids were on there and a lot of important contacts were in there and the hacker could of pretended he was me and cause me all sorts of bother) and what made it worse that I couldn't get in contact with yahoo (I must of tried over 15 different numbers to get in contact with them and over 25 emails).
I do hope this thread will be of help to anyone else experiencing similar problem as I would hate for anyone to have gone through what I had in the last 72hrs.

the hacked on mine added himself to my yahoo email, i was on google tonight hes added to that as well, iv had to do the same changed everything, this one was from bulgairia he goes to a uni in london, he stole nearly 1200 pounds from me, my card has only paid some back, anyone know how long it takes to get all your money back, iv kept the old card untill i get all my money back, they keep sending stupid letters to ask if i still want them to deal with the theft, i just want my money back, its been 6 weeks now, does anyone know how long it takes.0

The moral is: don't use a "free" email account; it can cost you dearly. Better to pay a few pounds per year for your own email server which is highly unlikely to be compromised.
I realise this is "barn door" advice for the posters but it could help others who haven't (yet) had their accounts hacked.0 -
It never ceases to amaze me that a company devoted to communications is so un-userfriendly when you try and contact them. That's what happens when companies get too big for their boots.0
