not able to print complete pdf's

i have charts that I use for x-stitch ,tiny hundred square boxes with a symbol in each. since updating my pc from xp to windows 7 I am unable to print these pdf's. the top inch prints perfectly and then the rest is feint or not there at all. I tried a chart from another file and it printed the shaded top piece and the shaded side piece but again the rest was feint. I had downloaded foxit as my reader, so went and downloaded adobe as well and it still doesn't work. I can print off the written instructions - the whole page prints- but again it is very feint. there is plenty of ink in the cartridge! The hp guys have been helping but I have now gone through 2 of their troubleshooting guides and still no good.
using dell dimension 5150 pc with windows 7 and hp deskjet 5150 printer. any thoughts?

test pages print perfectly, checked that grayscale is off, have gone into adobe and checked black is default colour and have tried using the print as image box. selected best quality print. reinstalled the hp software, pulled plugs out, still no go.0

I take it you've updated the driver?
have you tried:

I have recently had this same problem. I went to advanced settings on the printer and there were two options in the middle of the box that opened. The top one was marked I un clicked that and selected the bottom one I think. I can check more when I am at home.0

Hi this is how I corrected a similar issue.
From control panel select printer
Right click and select printer preferences
Click advanced tab
Look for color space. I changed this from sRGB to Adobe RGB and mine was OK after.
Not sure if that helps but give it a go. I just went there to look clicked the box to select the above and it worked for me. I don't know why it worked technically though. Good luck.
Oh, one other point I always use genuine ink now. Got fed up with continuous printer issues with a past printer. However some say the copy ink works just as well as genuine but personally I would not use the copy ink again.0 -

don't have that option on mine :-( I have tried ticking and unticking different colour options and am wasting a lot of paper and ink in the process. thing is that I have the same issue when using foxit, its just that adobe has a help page and forums. from which I am reading other peoples advice and trying out. thanks for your help.0 -
My Asus laptop came with this

it is a freebie, and I have had no problems with it, so maybe it can work for your pdf problem.
