Has anyone bought large size hessian squares? We are moving and wish to take plants out of pots to make lifting easier, but do not want the plants to die before we can replant.
If not hessian squares can you suggest anything else please
Tia

You can get it from some builders merchants, but most will only sell it by the roll.
It's also available online from fleabay and Amaz*n.
Alternatively, online you could try heavy duty landscape fabric from Toolstati*n £9.90 for 14m x 1m (free delivery over £10 spend)

Seeing where you come from, and reading the title of the thread, my immediate reaction was 'Buckfast Abbey.'

Then I remembered, monks don't wear sackcloth these days, they don't all look like Friar Tuck and 'Buckie' is far from old-fashioned, especially north of the border! :rotfl:

I moved several smallish trees and shrubs using old double duvet covers from the charity shops. Don't cut them up or anything, the seams give strength. You couldn't move a huge tree rootball in a duvet cover of course but it works for more modest plants.

That's a good idea, I have sent for a couple of 50k hessian potato sacks but I could wrap them up in old duvets covers if I have any more, I have taken then to th charity shop last week, having a good clear out
