in Credit cards
Just had an email from Sainsbury's Bank, subject line "Your Sainsbury's Bank Credit Card", saying "Before you can use your credit card, you have to activate it first. It's very simple to do and we'll take you through it step by step. [blah blah] To start using your card, call on 0800 xxxxxxx",
I haven't applied for a credit card with Sainsbury's Bank, so called them up using the number on their website, and they have confirmed that a load of people have been receiving emails in error.
Thought I'd throw it out there, even though I'm not convinced - seeing as the email greeted me by name, and I'm not a Sainsbury's Bank customer for any products at all.
Worth watching out for.

If it's genuinely from Sainsbury bank, you might want to enquire as to how they got your email address
(Unless you have previously provided it to them)
Sounds more like spam, phishing, etc. by an unconnected party.0 -
Looks like it is genuinely from Sainsbury's.

@Leeander17 Hi there, we're aware of this issue and are monitoring the situation. Can you please delete this email. Thanks, Brad0 -
So how did they obtain your email address if you are not a customer of theirs? :huh:0

I got the same e-mail this morning. I called the number for card activation and didn't input any details. After asking for my card details several times, it said it was transferring me to an operator.
I had to wait 15 minutes to get through. While on hold, I ordered a statutory credit report for £2.
When I got through, the operator apologised and said they were busy because a lot of e-mails have been sent out in error. I explained that I had just ordered an unnecessary credit report because of their actions. They are refunding me the £2.0
