Unable to exchange contracts before marriage

Could someone kindly advise me what would happen if a women was to have an offer accepted on a property with all the details being agreed between buyer and seller then for some reason it got delayed so that contracts could not be exchanged before the date of her marriage. Would all the paper work have to be done and agreed again in the married name or is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance.

You don't have to change your name on marriage.

I mostly use my maiden name professionally, and my husband's name socially. So long as you're not trying to defraud anyone, that's perfectly fine. I could call myself Mrs Annisele in real life if I really wanted to, and that would be fine too.

It's probably worth letting your conveyancer know if you plan to change your name, but I really can't see it being a problem.

Just wait until after the sale to change your name with banks etc. I got married in May but still haven't changed my name because I have a flight booked in my maiden name later this year, will start changing when I get back.

No just follow it through in the original name which you are still perfectly entitled to use instead of, or alongside, the married name.

Do not under estimate the time it takes to change your name on marriage either. Everybody wants to see the original certificate. Driving licence, passport even my employer the civil service who promptly managed to loose it :( so back to the Vicar for a replacement.

All certificates are certified copies of the register entry.
To save problems with lost certificates get three or four extra at the time of marriage.

Which the Vicar was able to do for us as he hadn't sent the pad of forms off to the Register. About a year after the civil service wrote to me and said very sorry we have found your first copy, turns out it had been filed in someone else's file.

We bought our house several months before we married. My husband says that he took our marriage certificate in to the lenders, who changed my name on the paperwork, so, as the op will have her married name on completion, I imagine that just informing the lender beforehand should be as simple a matter.

Maintain your own financial legal entity throughout. Just let folks know you are getting married on what date.

Also time future, hang onto a Maiden name acount in case of dippy relatives...
    All the best.

You were intending to complete with your maiden name and it's still legally your name after you are married, even if you decide to become known as another surname later on. I personally wouldn't want to be messing around with the offer and the paperwork close to exchange so I'd leave it as it was and get the name changed later on.

I just love having two names!
Kept my name for all my finances and use my married name socially.
