OR Interview :-/

I have my interview on Monday and I'm a bit nervous. What questions can I expect to be asked? I'll have my 6.28 infront of me and I know I've nothing to hide but I still feel a bit daunted about it all

There is nothing to worry about - its not an inquisition. My OR just worked thorough my SOA asking some quite matter-of-fact questions like my mileage and petrol costs and about a couple of large transactions on my bank statement - the OR was fine with them. A couple of tips to make sure the interview is as stress free as possible are :
Make sure whichever phone you are using is fully charged
Make sure you wont be disturbed (turn off any phones you are not using, lock the door etc)
Have a cup of tea and go to the loo before they call
Have a pen and your forms in front of you

Also - the OR will be typing up things as you go along - don't worry about filling silences...just answer the question and wait.
Its not the OR's job to judge - just ascertain the facts. Good luck :)
  • There is nothing to catch you out on, just remember the interview is to find out what happened and to enable the Official Receiver to put together the Report to Creditors.

As stated by TheGardener, make sure your phone is fully charged, have your SOA in front of you, so you can see what is being referred to at which question.
I worked as a case clerk for the IS for a number of years. Any views expressed are my own. If your query is urgent, please contact the OR or LTADT dealing with your case directly.
Always receive expert advice before going bankrupt.
  • My call was pretty much like TheGardner's, we went through the forms and double checked the creditors list and how those debts were incurred. We then went through my SOA which had a few small changes made, mainly in my favour and it was decided I'd have an IPA and would find the amount out within a few days.

I was asked if I had any questions, the examiner wished me luck for the future and I have heard from the examiner once since the interview to confirm my IPA amount.

It's really not that bad :)
  • Will you please let me know how you get on Haitch? I have mine on Wednesday and I'm dreading it xx

Mine was fine too, though lengthy. She was really nice, but straight and very professional, no chit chat or anything, and said she just wanted to confirm exactly how I had arrived at this situation. She went back a few times over this just to ensure she had the facts exactly right. You could hear her typing in the background.

Right at the beginning she explained what she was going to go through so I knew the process and progress.

She then said she would go through my 6.28 and worked her way through it all, page by page. She made it easier by saying, now we'll look at page 5 and so on.

Forgot to say, she said to interrupt and ask questions along the way if I wanted, or else save them up and ask at the end. Like a job interview I did have a list of questions before hand so plenty of opportunity to clarify things, she said it's a 2way process.

Thank you all, I will let you know how it goes. I have things pretty sorted in my head just not sure what her reaction to my IPA will be as I only have maternity allowance which ends in Dec and I'm not in a fit state health wise to go straight out to work, let alone the fact I have a four month old baby. I'm hoping she's not going to take a dim view of a stay at home Mum for a bit!

To be honest, I doubt she (could be a he!) will take a view on anything - dim or otherwise - she just wants to establish and confirm the facts of how this came about and how you're going to live now and in the future. No judgement at all.

I hope he/she is open to the idea of being supported by my partner until I'm fit to work again then and not insist on him paying an IPA for me? Is that possible they could ask to do that? The BR is me only not him

and not insist on him paying an IPA for me?

No, that definitely doesn't happen at all.

The IPA is calculated as a surplus of the BAnkrupt's income, according to the BAnkrupt's SOA.

The only time a partner comes into the equation is when calculating the Bankrupt's percentage contribution to household expenditure.

As elljay says, the OR is not in the game of passing moral judgements.

If you have no income other than benefits, then that is all that matters.

Remember, BAnkruptcy is not a punishment......you are not being penalised for making what you think of as a ''mess-of-things''...because, only you think that way, no-one else does.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
