Claim made through courts but offered money outside?

I have run through the process that Martin has described, intitially on 9th June asking the bank for fees plus interest £1500 and giving them 14 days to respond. After receiving a standard delaying response and waiting 14 days, I threatened to take Barclays to court and waited a further 14 days. I then used money claim online to issue my claim through the small claims court. As of yet Barclays have not acknowledged the claim.
My problem is, they have now offered a part settlement £890, with no admission of liability, making reference to my letter dated 9th of June.
Obviously since that letter due to their delays I have progressed the process further and incurred court costs.
As they have now made this offer, do I now have to change the status of my court claim. Or can I just sit tight and hope they do not respond to the claim and hopefully win the full value by default.
I am worried that if I sit tight, they will say that they had responded and made an offer, even though they have not responded through the courts?
Your help is appreciated

You should get in touch with the bank and accept the offer of £890.00 as part payment but inform them that you will be continuing with your claim for the outstanding amount plus the court fee. Dont know when the date for acknowledging the claim will be up, but Barclays usually wait until the last minute to acknowledge the claim and then again to enter their defence. When you have heard from Northampton which court this will be transferred to you can then write and inform the court that you have had a partial payment, if they have sent you the money of course. Alternatively write to the bank rejecting their offer and tellling them that you will be proceeding with the claim for the full amount. There are template for accepting/rejecting part payments on the CAG website.0
