Fascias/ Soffits/ Guttering

I have a 3 bed semi, built in 1929
It needs new soffits etc (rotten) and probably downpipes and guttering etc
Ive done some DIY before (studs, doors, boarding, etc)
Luckily the house has a gable end, so not loads of soffits just out froont and back.
Its all quite accesible, so my question is:
How easy is this to DIY and what materials should I use? The plastic soffits or maybe wooden ones? What are the benefits of each type or any other materials you may suggest
thankyou

Use UPVC for soffit and fascia and do away with painting. Inexpensive if you can find a supplier in a unit on a trading estate.
Not difficult to fit but I would not attempt it using ladders - hire scaffold.Forgotten but not gone.0 -

Hope below helps you to do the comparison with yoru DIY vs cladding company. I am getting the cladding company to do the Fascia/ Soffits/ Guttering for my newly built front porch (2x2m) and rear extension (6x5.5m).
I got the quote for (labour & material) = £1600.
Material
Fascia - 175mm Plain White
Soffit - 300mm T'n'G White
Guttering - Black round with Matching downpipes
Do let us know how above compares with your DIY project.0
