Could I hire 1 person to do all this and about how much will it cost?

Hey guys,

I've recently bought a house and had some plumbing and electrical work done/ arranged. I have a few other things that need doing from by building survey/ my own observation and I was wondering what type of tradesman is required and how much it would cost roughly please?
Also, I haven't really done too much DIY but am willing to give something a go if it's simple.

Overhaul porch roof felt and consider replacing the covering together with the thermal insulation beneath to provide enhanced thermal insulation to this element.
Replace running outlet and downpipe to take rainwater from the conservatory and replace capping to ends of roof glazing bars.
Adjust hinges on French doors to facilitate full operation.

There is some cracking in the plaster around the front door on the inside of the porch so I think I should have that replastered while sorting out the porch issue above.
Just inside the main house, I had to knock out part of the plastering to access and have the internal stopcock replaced and so that will need some replastering also.

Thanks,
Chris.

  • To do all that would be a handyman

Would you trust one with all that work or want someone skilled?

The 'handyman ' may well be skilled enough for all those little tasks.
In fact I would expect any 'builder' to cope.

Ps Add any DiY'er with a few years experience.

PPS i am a diyer, and none on that list would worry me.
  • Thanks for your replies guys.
I think what I'll do in that case is advertise the job as once on a tradesmen site, see who replies and check if they have done similar kinds of things before and have good reviews.
Does anyone else have any other views or had similar done by a handyman?

    Cheers,
    Chris.
  • Does anyone know roughly how much work like this would cost if I could get it all done by one guy please?
Obviously I'll get a few quotes but would be good to get a ballpark figure to give me an idea.

    Thanks,
    Chris.
