What you receive as a pension, is not her business. You don't ask her how much she earns!

She is quite welcomed to see the House Insurance. As you are living there, I would expect you to be responsible for Gas/Elec/Water Rate/Council Tax, as you would have to do this if you moved into rented or bought your own home.

General Repairs and upkeep of the building is a shared responsibility, which the four of you need to sit down and discuss. They are weighing up their options on whether to keep the house or sell it. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you want to go or stay?

Your earning are not taken into consideration when doing probate, only your late husband's. If in doubt visit your nearest Citizen Advice Bureau, or call their helpline, Age Concern may also be able to help.

Surely the responsibility for insuring the building rests with the owners of it? Likewise the upkeep of the building fabric. Unless the will says something specific the OP has the right of abode but is not responsible for anything but possibly the internal decoration rather like a tenant of a rented property.
  • yes the probate is being done, she has now apparently gone to a solicitor for the changing of names on the deeds from what I can make out. I never seem to get any straight answers from any of them. She rang me saturday and informed me the solicitor has said that anything that needed doing to the house before my husband passed away is not my responsibilty to repair, so I'm taking that as long as I keep the house in the state it is now then I'm fine. Several things do need doing to the house, ie windows, guttering and heating system but all these needed to be done before.
As for selling the house and buying a somewhere else, the share I would get from the sale would not be enough to purchase anywhere else.
I will stay where I am and make them wait for the inheritance!! I'm very upset that my husband has done the will in this way, but too late now.
Thank you all again for your help.

The names on the deeds can only be changed once probate has been granted, I believe; which suggests that you can get a copy of the will from the Probate Registry.

Please do contact AgeUK re the situation, urgently.

If you were your husband's dependant then you should be entitled to a certain level of support from his estate and it is not clear from your posts whether this new will meets that requirement.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
