Together we can get through it !

Options
I live in Gloucester and my family and i were flooded out on friday night after being in our home for just three weeks.
It's taken us 48 hours to get back online and it's going to take another 24 hours before things are clear of mud and smell.
We are about to run out of water and the emergency services are fighting hard to keep electricity going.
From all this disaster we have spent more time with our neighbours over the last three days than in the last three weeks.
If we are strong and resiliant we can get through this.
The hardest thing is losing the personal documents like birth certificates as they are harder to replace.

Must be awful for you, thinking of you and your family and let's hope this rain stops soon.

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you all. It must be dreadful seeing your home and possessions destroyed. Despite what some sad other posters have said on another post, I think it's a disaster/catastrophe. I hope things get better soon.

This happened to us about 25 years ago - it's horrible at the time, the smell was the worst, but you get through it. We had about 3 ft of water through the house - I was about 17/18 and remember it being quite fun "camping" upstairs and days of funny food or going to the pub for meals - not sure my parents would agree it was fun and I'm not sure I'd want to cope with all the "grown up" things that go with this kind of thing - my heart goes out to you, but remember most things you've lost are just "things" and can be replaced - as long as everyone in the family is OK that's the important thing.
