monitor slow to 'awaken'

When my pc has been hibernating, and I awaken it (usually by moving the mouse) it has recently been taking a while for the screen to return to full brightness.
It comes on very dimmed, and still functions, but seems so slow to light up. After a minute or so it's fine but it used to do this instantly, I'm sure.
Does this mean the monitor is on the way out, or is there something I can do?
Windows 7
