New claims of DLA for working age people went away some time ago.
However, those on DLA whose circumstances change in some areas of the country will still be reassessed for DLA.
Come 17th November, people in the following postcode areas who report a change of circumstances in their DLA will instead move onto PIP.
CH - Chester.
HD - Huddersfield
L - Leeds, Liverpool, Lancaster, Leicester, Llandudlo
M - Motherwell, Manchester, Medway, Milton Keynes
(Please note - it's possible some of the above areas have already changed over - I'm just expanding the bare 'CH, HD, L,M' given in the source.)
The document claims that starting from October 2015, existing DLA claimants will start being requested to claim PIP.
And in 'Late 2017' All claimants of working age.
'Invited to claim PIP' means that if you do not take up this invitation, your DLA stops.
For those migrating, DLA payments continue at the same rate until a decision is made on your PIP claim.

It would have been sensible for the document itself to have stated the postal district names in full rather than just saying 'postcodes beginning with L' - I may be wrong, But it wouldn't surprise me if they actually mean specifically postcodes beginning 'L number ...' (i.e. Liverpool) rather that any postcode beginning L such as Leeds (LS number ... etc)0 -

This is a good point.
I can't at the moment find the original legislation.
However, from memory, there is basically no requirement for the DWP to go through parliament or anything else than publish it on a website somewhere.
I note however that to meet stated aims 'nobody on PIP should be waiting >16 weeks' - this needs assessments to be done at a rate that means they will run out of new claims for PIP sometime in April.
Before the October deadline for beginning to reassess people not immediately up for reassessment.
This does mean that to fill that gap - assuming for the moment that they are intending to go at about 70000 claims/month processed until the DLA caseload is done - they need a substantial number of migrations.
Spreading it out over more of the country is not unlikely from that perspective.0 -
Is it still October 2015 when everyone else will be assessed? I may be thinking of stuff that never happened; but I heard it would be nearer 2016.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

October 2015 is quite near 2016.
And yes - from Oct 2015, anyone reporting a change to their condition will be assessed for PIP, not DLA - with no areas of the country where this isn't the case.
Also from this date:
'DWP will invite claims as early as possible from recipients who have turned 65 after 8th April 2013'.
I think this means that 64 year old claimants who applied for (and were granted) DLA from the period April-June 2013 outside the trial areas for PIP will be reassessed early.
I need to re-read the rules to see what the treatment of >65s on PIP (not new applicants) is.
'Late 2017' is the time at which they hope to have reassessed everyone.0 -

I am on an indefinite award now and also of working age, so do you know whether I am liable to fall into the October 2015 or late 2017 category? Sometimes the DWP is as clear as mud, so thought I would ask the expert, as your advice in my experience is always spot on!
Or is it a case of wait and see?
If it helps I am a YO post code.
Thanks in advance0 -
OOPS! I have just read the DWP document and answered my own question.......
Migration starts from Oct 2015 to be completed by late 2017!!!
That'll teach me to read it properly the first time!!!0
