Balance Transfer Error

in Credit cards
A few weeks ago I transferred the balance of my Debenhams store card to a new Tesco credit card due to 0% interest.:T
I received a call a couple of days ago from their debt collection department regarding nonpayment and on further investigation find out that the account number for my Debenhams account to be transferred, was inputted incorrectly and I have in fact paid almost £900 off someone's River Island card:eek:
Tesco are apparently investigating the issue which may take 6 weeks! In the mean time I am paying for a balance that hasn't been transferred (Tesco) as well as the original amount (debenhams)
Can anyone please advise me how to speed up the process other than to keep ringing them?

Who made the error - you or the CC company?
If it was them, they should reimburse any interest charges you suffer and correct your credit record.
If it was you, you've had it - good luck on getting your money back....0 -
Stop paying them anything, I generally find it focuses their minds on the task in hand.0

Since it's an unsecured debt you could stop paying all together and there's very little they can do apart from make empty threats which you can ignore!0

I did the transfer online and don't know if it was me or if the number is redone further along the line. It only asked for the long number and amount, nowhere is the name on the card mentioned, although states in it's T&Cs that you can only transfer a balance from a card held in your own name. Surely that should have been checked?0

It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

Sounds very much like you are to blame for making an error when inputting the number and you should consider yourself very fortunate if they sort it out for you!0

I think this is a case of woops.
You will be lucky if they sort it out for you.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0
