Should I look in unoccupied house prior to completion?

I have sale agreed on the purchase of a house which is unoccupied.
The property is obviously unoccupied due to the condition of the front garden, and the surveyor discovered that it has had a break-in at some point due to damage found to the external door.
As the whole process has dragged on longer that I would have hoped, my survey was conducted about 2 months ago. Also, the last time I was in the property was before this.
It is near time to exchange contracts. I am wondering would it be reasonable/sensible for me to ask the agent if I could have a quick look in the property just prior to exchange, as there is always the possibility that someone could have got in since the survey and trashed the place.

we did...just contacted the EA and asked for either an accompanied viewing or the keys to go ourselves,they were more than happy to do that...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

The condition it's in when you exchange is what you're buying not the condition it was in a couple of months ago.0 -
Do that - my buyers went in just before exchange when my tenants had been out for about 5 weeks, and it's totally sensible. I plan to do the same with my next purchase, even if it's occupied... you never know what might have changed if you haven't seen it for a bit, or what vendors might unexpectedly do (rip out fittings etc)0

I spent the time between exchange and completion doing the garden on one house. Leaves swept up, brambles cut down, grass cut. Even had the back door key which was useful. Bit cheeky but I knew the owner was in the USA so hardly likely to pop round.

That may well be the case...however we asked for an accompanied viewing and were offered the keys to go and check for ourselves....then advised to return the keys.The EA really shouldn't be letting a potential purchaser have the keys to a property and let them go unattended.
can only speak of our experience...it happened that way.
