Scotland, written offer put in over 2 weeks ago no response yet....

We are in Scotland. Our solicitor put an offer in writing 15 days ago now and they have heard nothing back from the sellers solicitor.

Our solicitor has called them a couple times and left couple messages but still no response.

Am I just expecting too much too soon?

It was the sellers who came back to us 2 weeks after rejecting our verbal offer and accepted our offer through their estate agent. We put it in writing through our solicitor the next day and nothing since!

We have put forward on our offer letter a date of entry 5 weeks from now, over 2 weeks ago their estate agent said those dates suited the sellers. Now concerned, with just 5 weeks...they might not even have a house to move to/not applied for a mortgage/have changed their minds etc.

Is this all normal? Thanks!

There should certainly be some response, even if it's just a verbal one to say e.g. they're looking for somewhere to buy before progressing the missives. Is your solicitor not getting calls returned at all?

Could have gone on holiday or they could be hoping for another offer

What does the estate agent say?

Their solicitor is still under a professional duty to give some sort of response and explain any delay (and not to co-operate with any attempt at gazumping).

Is the seller using a separate Estate Agent and Conveyancing Solicitor, or is their Solicitor a firm that also does Estate Agency?
