Pay it off before the statement date, don't wait and rack up more in interest. Even if it is a small amount it's a silly decision to do so in most situations.

Agreed - that £1 in interest could be used to buy um... well not much. It's much better to worry, try to get an internet connection for free, log into your credit card company, pay the money and relax - a £1 saved.

What internet connection? The person that bsms1147 replied to has already returned from Spain and was posting on MSE. Surely there were no any problems with getting "an internet connection for free".

I meant there has been quite a bit of posting on here about paying off cards like Clarity as soon as the charge hits the account. This usually means they are overseas, and they are worrying about their £1 interest on cash withdrawls and lots of advice is bandied about like 'pay off the card as soon as the cash advance hits your statement' etc.

My advice was - relax and enjoy your holiday.

I'm not convinced the people who have such a hard time finding internet connections abroad (particularly during that "Ryanair are evil, there are no printers in Spain so how could I possibly print out my boarding pass" phase) have ever left the country! There are wifi hotspots EVERYWHERE. If your hotel doesn't have internet access then I can only assume you're staying in some kind of hovel in the middle of nowhere! (Though granted, some make you pay for it)

While I can fully understand someone not wanting to even think about money while on holiday, opening the app and transferring some money takes all of 2 minutes, everyone will have a gap of 2 minutes at some point during the day in which they could quickly pay it off. If they don't want to for the sake of a couple of quid then great, but they could.
