Will I ever be able to rent my own place with bad credit history?

I have defaults, however I wish to maybe start renting a place on my own through estate agents.

Will they ALL ask for credit checks or is it spareroom.com forever?

Thanks.

Why do you want to use estate agents? Using a private landlord is your best bet. Many of them don't credit check.
Do you have anyone who would act as a guarantor?

    No CCJ's.

Unsure, didn't know where to find private landlords advertised?

    Try gumtree for private landlords.

Letting agencies can only see your public credit file and that only shows bankruptcy and CCJs so as long as neither apply to you then you should be fine.

Every reputable agent will, yes. It's why landlords pay them.

But that doesn't mean "spareroom.com forever". Just until you rebuild your credit record, and you also have other sources - landlords who don't use an agent etc.

Look in the local paper, the ones that are advertised on their own in classified format are usually independent landlords without and agent.
