Speeding up local searches

I've just been reading about personal searches instead of a local authority search. Ours is looking at taking until 1st Dec at the moment
and I just wondered if anyone has any experience of requesting a personal search instead and what I need to consider.

If you are buying with a mortgage, I believe that lenders generally don't accept personal searches.0

From a quick look at the CML handbook, they seem generally acceptable to lenders. They're the norm in Scotland.0 -

I wish I'd have known this..... our buyers are waiting for the local search to come back, and is the only thing holding up exchange'/completion. But it's been 6.5 weeks since they applied for it, so it could come back any day, so doubt they will be prepared to pay for another one, even though they are as keen as we are to complete next Friday due to the school holidays!
One to remember for when we purchase our next house though!
Thanks again2014 - the year we became debt-free :T

Be careful - some official searches are quicker than personal ones because the LA in question doesn't make it easy for the personal search agents to come in.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
I've spoken to LA today and have begged and pleaded, explaining that we will in effect be homeless from 27th Oct and they have marked it as urgent and trying to get it completed for me for next Friday 24th!
Finger's crossed!VSPC #183 £6.32
