NIP Delivered at previous address, 28 days exceeded

Hi All

I am in trouble again ...

I moved my house on 5th September 2014 and i was planning to sell off my car and hence did not changed address of my car.

I sold my car on 26th September 14..

Now some new tenants at my previous address forwarded me the posts at my new address, and in that post there was one NIP for speeding offense

Offense date was 7th September 14
letter date is 9th September 14

and i have received it today which is clearly after 28 days..

Can anyone of you please guide me what options do i have now and what should i do ?


Any help will be highly appreciated.

It doesn't matter when you receive it from a previous address (if you have moved), they couldn't have known you weren't at the address anymore, so it's hardly their fault that the delay has occurred.

Why did the new tenant not forward it to you immediately?

I guess it was empty for few weeks and not when new tenants moved in they fwded it to me.

I want to know what options do i have now ? if any

Take it down to the Police station in the morning and take a written response explaining the reason for the delay (or post it to wherever the NIP says). Post on pepipoo for urgent help as well:

Basically deal with it now as you would have done in September - only more urgently. Tomorrow.
