in Credit cards
Recently went to Munich Octoberfest.
Left the hotel and when I checked out I paid for printing off boarding card.
Hotel then charge me again for hotel room.
Disputed payment. Night porter said I had not paid for room so had charged me.
Had to leave to catch plane.
Emailed hotel and they admitted there mistake but instead of returning money to my card they returned it to the guy who booked all the rooms initially.
My credit card company refuse my request to dispute payment because I used chip and pin. Is this correct??
Have I any come back on credit card.

However, TBH, I don't understand anything. How could the hotel charge you again with the PIN? And what does payment "for printing off boarding card" has to do with them charging you for the room?
If you did authorise a wrong amount without checking it, then the only way to sort this out is with the hotel.0 -
If it's the payment that you authorised by entering the PIN, then this is correct.

I suspect what happened was:
- 'Mr X' booked and paid for the room in advance
- jbp7r was the guest who stayed at the hotel
- When jbp7r checked out, the night porter said the room had not been paid for
- So jbp7r paid to avoid a fuss, and planned to double check with 'Mr X' later
Subsequently, the hotel agreed the night porter had made a mistake, but refunded 'Mr X' instead of jbp7r.
(And the boarding pass was a bit of a red herring!)
If that's all correct... the the hotel is definitely in the wrong - so it's really up to them to sort out the mess (i.e. refund you and claim the money back from 'Mr X')
But it might be easier, for you to just ask 'Mr X' for the money.
Having said this, if the card was Visa card, the following is a valid chargeback reason:V86 Paid by other means – the cardholder is stating that the transaction was paid for by other means and has provided evidence to support the alternative payment.
But I don't think that's intended to be used in these circumstances.0 -

That presupposes the amount the night porter charged the OP was the same as Mr X paid.
I had a similar experience recently where I had booked a hotel in Tokyo via a well known hotel website. When checking out after 5 nights' stay the receptionist said she couldn't verify if it was pre-paid or not, so she wanted to take the payment at rack rate (£2,500) and said she would not process it if she confirmed it was prepaid.
I refused on the grounds that:
- the confirmation I gave them on arrival (which she didn't have) clearly verified that it was prepaid;
- I already had the charge by the booking agent on my credit card account, and could show her that;
- They had already had 5 days to resolve this while I was staying there.
They were very insistent, and the exchange became somewhat acrimonious, however they eventually gave up and I departed.
Less than an hour later I received an email from them apologising very profusely having confirmed I was correct.
The moral is to stand your ground in this situation, however it is not clear in the OP's situation whether they were tricked into paying this money thinking they were just paying a printing charge.Optimists see a glass half full
