Fixed term accounts after death

I am having terrible trouble with a certain bank re a fixed term saving joint account now the joint account holder has passed away. They cant even sort out the fact that it should now be my sole account. I have had terrible service from the bereavement team and the savings team and this is now matter of a convoluted complaint.
Whilst trying to sort this out, I have since wondered if other fixed term accounts held by the deceased in their sole name, even need to be closed at all. I am waiting for Grant of Probate and I am sole beneficiary. I would rather transfer the accounts to me, if possible, as they pay a better rate of interest than anything I could get now.
Does anyone know if such a thing is possible?. I am fed up arguing with different departments about the other matter, and don't want to engage with them, to even ask the question, if its already known to be impossible.

Sorry for your loss. I appreciate it is difficult but unless you do engage with them then the problem will not get resolved. Sorry to say but as executor it is your responsibility to deal with things like this even if they are difficult. As you are the executor and sole beneficiary then nobody else is going to sort it out. You need to check what the terms of the fixed terms account are because they usually have a clause that says what happens upon death.

Thank you for your reply and of course you are right. However, in regard to the joint account, the bank have been unable to supply me with the t&cs, as the product is no longer on sale, and I assume I would have the same issue with the sole accounts.

You need to exhaust the ban k's own complaints procedure and then take the case to the banking Ombudsman. It beggars belief that they don't have bthe records.
