I have tried reading through these posts and am still stumped.
My husband took my car to visit his chiropodist and parked in the Meridian West, Havant car park on 7th October 2014.
I have a personalised number plate ***2180 but my husband keyed in ***1280. I noticed this on the ticket when he returned, but not thinking anything of it, binned it!
I now have a Parking Charge Notice for £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. He did pay for a two hour stay but was there for only 1 hour 40 mins. Can they pick up his mistake if I explain to them?

They can but won't.
You need to go and read the NEWBIES thread at the top of the parking board which will tell you everything you need to know to challenge this sucessfully and pay a grand total of £0!0 -
WHY? The Newbies thread tells you what to do - STOP LOOKING FOR A CASE 'LIKE' YOURS. You don't need anything different, the advice is already there.Apoorwoman wrote: »I have tried reading through these posts and am still stumped.
Use the template and add a point F to explain the driver's error and to ask them to check their records instead, for the payment that was made for car reg ***1280.I now have a Parking Charge Notice for £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. PE will cancel it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

PE will cancel it.
Did as above and have received a letter today:
Please be advised ParkingEye have not received any previous correspondence/evidence in relation to this charge.
In order for ParkingEye to cancel this Parking Charge, we will need valid evidence indicating that you did not break the terms and conditions stipulated on the signage.
I did not keep the ticket as had no idea this was going to happen. What should I do now please?0 -
I dealt with something very similar on behalf of a family member recently. Please see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5089495
Don't tell them that you believe the registration was entered incorrectly; they are likely to jump on that as a breach of the terms & conditions in itself.
Just formulate a similar appeal, stating that a legitimate ticket was purchased, and that whether or not the registration was correctly entered is largely irrelevant.
I sent them absolutely no 'evidence' at all; just the letter.0 -
Parking Eye have submitted to a previous court that they check to see if digits have been transposed when entering numbers into their equipment. This was at Northampton Court in February this year in a Statement of truth from Johnathan Langham
It should be noted that the terms and conditions state that the full and correct vehicle registration number should be entered. Parking Eye does check to ensure that we do not issue charges to motorists if it appears as though a slighly incorrect registration has been entered.
I suggest that you write again to PE quoting that statement, ask them again to check their records on the date in question and work that in with a POPLA appeal.
They do have a record of cancelling if you can prove your case.0 -
Thank you Tobster 86 and Guys Dad, sorry I haven't got back to you before but my Internet went down yesterday.
I will take your advice and thank you for your time.0 -

How on earth can you prove a negative?Iseen some stupid statements from PE, but this wins the prize for extra stupidity. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

That really is the pits isn't it? Using that half-assed logic they could simply buy a mailing list with a million names and addresses on it, send a NtK to all of them, and then demand the recipients prove that they are not liable!Je suis Charlie.0 -
Reminds me of a consumer radio programme I was listening to a few years ago. Somebody had complained to a book club about the non receipt of some books. The book club asked the customer to prove they hadn't received the books. The suggestion was made to send the book club a photo of a book-case with an empty shelf. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Appealed again:
As I explained in my appeal on the 16th October, a ticket was duly purchased by the driver, who not being
familiar with the vehicle, transposed the digits i.e. Registration number is *** 2180 - registration number entered was *** 1280.

It should be noted that the terms and conditions state that the full and correct vehicle registration number should be entered. Parking Eye does check to ensure that we do not issue charges to motorists if it appears as though a slightly incorrect registration has been entered.
I therefore ask you to please check your records on the date in question, failing this as the registration
number is unusual perhaps you could send me photographic evidence of any vehicle bearing the registration number *** 1280 that parked there on the same date.
Just got an email to say they are cancelling the parking charge. :T
Thank you all so much for your help.0
