Something updated on my windows 8 computer yesterday and since then whenever I open a new tab on IE11 there is now a bing search type in window (can't think what to call it) as well as my 10 most frequently visited web sites.
How do I get rid of it, or change it to google?

Go to the Tools Menu in IE11 and select Manage Add-Ons. Choose the tab for Search Providers ... right click on BING and Delete.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0

That deletes the default search. What OP actually needs to do is to go to the Tools menu, and then Internet options. Halfway down the General tab, you'll find a button labelled 'Tabs'. Click it to get the tabbed browsing settings. Then, on "When a new tab is opened..." choose either "First home page" or "blank page"Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0
