seat belt stuck on car seat

Raaaaaaaah!

Anyone offer any advice? Our son's car seat died this morning (straps came out etc) so I've tried to get it out. I've undone the seatbelt, but the seatbelt is jammed stuck.
Any ideas how to unjam it? It's a Suzuki Alto.

thanks!

You need to give more information. What you say is confusing.

You say the straps have come out, you have undone the seatbelt, yet it is jammed. I read this as you have undone the belt and got the straps out, so which bit is jammed?

Is it the belt that is not moving freely or is it the clip operated by the push button that is stuck?

Sorry when I say the straps came out, that's on the child car seat - the reason why it's broke lol. Sorry for putting it in.

The child seat is still strapped in, but the belt is not plugged in. I can physically pull the child seat out of the car but the seatbelt is jam tight and won't budge to loosen so I can remove the child seat.

  • Can you cut the straps on the seat further?

(Sorry if that's unhelpful - I'm not a parent and have no idea how they fit but it seems logical :) )

no, it's not the strap on the child seat - it's the actual seatbelt that is locked, you know when you break and the seatbelt goes tight? it's like that x

Usually giving the belt a sharp tug (or several) frees it
or try going for a drive and stop sharply
or bash the seat belt mechanism with your hand.

Impact engineering often sorts this out. Give the metal housing of the mechanism a sharp tap with a small hammer, you may have to remove the plastic covering to do this. Try it with slight pressure on the belt.
