M&S Bank Acc Switch

Hi,

got this weeks email & seen the offer of the £125 M&S gift card for switching to their bank account. If both my wife & I done this, would be £250 for M&S that would come in very handy for Xmas.

Bit confused with whats been stated though......
MSE summary says:
"Need to set up/switch direct debit or standing order? No."

However, when i check the T&C's on the M&S page it states:
"within 6 months from the date you opened the Qualifying Account you must have switched your account to us using the Current Account Switch Service. You must complete a full switch of your old bank account to M&S Bank through the Current Account Switch Service initiated through our bank branches"

I have never switched a bank account before so may be a bit naive with this.
Do the above statements not contradict each other?
If my account has no DD/SO & I switch the account, would this qualify?

thanks in advance

You don't need to have any standing orders or direct debits to switch an account. Thats what it means.
  • Yeah thats how i got the initial bcard. Just wondered if anyonne had good feedback about a paricular bank card as the interest rate is half comared to some .

So, to get the M&S switching offer I can switch from a current account with no direct debits to the M&S account and still get the switching reward? Correct?

Can anyone suggest a fee-free current account that is quick to set up so I can get it and then switch to M&S and get the reward?

(I don't want to switch my real current account because it's too much hassle changing my account details with work to get salary paid to a different account. I've done it twice before and ended up that all DDs switched but my salary didn't switch over so i didn't have the money in the new account to pay the DDs!)

    Correct.

The Santander Everday Current Account will fit the bill.
