- NSD Sun/Mon
- Frugal weekend (until i got Ebay Fever
) had with homecooked meals and a trip to lincoln market ...
The Not So Good - DH spent about £40 at Lincoln market - I class this as NS for me as we have our own separate money still, we just transfer lots of it into the joint account for bills and payment of pots etc - anyhow he paid for the cheese, salami and other bits we bought
however he's owed a lot of travel expenses this month which will ore than cover it. Much of which is fuel - hence he 'makes' money on it @ 45p per mile (if you ignore the outlay for the car, depreciation, insurance, MOT, TAX, maintenance of it all etc. :rotfl: ) - I have been naughty naughty naughty :o:( …… it makes me feel bad just writing it, but I bought a 'few' things online Saturday eve, all out of my own spends so I an treating as an Xmas pressie (s) from me to me

- Some new placemats from Laura Ashley (they were so sparkly and pretty and Xmas like + on offer) @ £50
- Wedgwood dinner set (it's gorgeous, comes with 24 plates, (side and dinner x 2 sizes for both) jug, gravy jug, 3 x serving platters and 2 Tureens - for the bargain price of £35 + £12 delivery!! I am VERYYYYY excited at this purchase! :j:T
- I have an existing 'posh' dinner set, (bought second hand from antique dealer for the bargain price of £19) found someone on eBay selling another serving platter, 6 x salad plates (I had none) and 5 x bowls to match (I smashed one so needed another, plus the one's extra are good for serving things in) for £21, free P & P, so I snapped this up

- I ordered a matching table lamp for the lounge, it's very dark in there (altho we have a floor lamp) and you have to squint when we have people round - so that was another £33

- I also ordered some more napkin holders and table card holders all in about £45

- My theory is (trying to justify frivilous spends) that for the dinner things - we do have people round and if this means we eat in more, it will save money over the years by not spending it out!

- I take back the work comment a few days ago  - on the count down until Friday, where I have nearly 3 weeks off until the new year! :j
Blessings & Good Stuff :A :T
- Lovely Sunday Lunch cooked yesterday for my parents
Plus daddy dearest fixed a few things DH seems incapable of  - The freezer and food cupboards are stocked up - I genuinely think we could last 3-4+ months if we were hit by the world's worst snow storm and couldn't get out the village!! :rotfl:
- Fishcakes prepared and chilled in fridge overnight for dinner tonight - we have no salad, so just need to figure out what to have with them…??
- Wait for all my deliveries of naughtiness to arrive (muwahahah)
:D

They sound like some lovely purchases.
I really would love a pretty vintage dinner service, so I am rather envious.
We have a Denby dinner service which we got when we were married, 33 years ago, so it's almost vintage, but it's not exactly pretty, although I'm very fond of it.
Our everyday crockery is over 20 years old, so ever that's getting on a bit.
When we did our kitchen up about 12 years ago we also bought so more Denby from a different range.
But I still hanker after something pretty and floral.
Maybe one day. Note to self - don't look on eBay!Early retired - 18th December 2014

They are indeed
Haha - my new years resolution is to delete ebay apps on various devices and stay away from all shops - hopefully this will keep me on the frugal straight and narrow :rotfl:2014 - £264k - 25 Years - MF March 2039

The Not So Good - My NNSD - was only 'nearly' because I buckled and bought some giant buttons - it was that kind of day!

- DH away in Ireland - only for one night (altho looking at today's weather and the wind I'm not sure he will be coming home tonight) - it's funny/strange, but I really missed him. How times have changed. He used to spend about 50% of the time working away and it never bothered me, presumably I became used to it, but I do him when he's away these days, which thankfully isn't that often now :T
- Spend day today, popped to Aldee spent £21.x, then to Tesc0, stocked up on my shampoo that was on offer £20 and another £20.x on bits and bobs I need for xmas that I can't get from Aldee
Blessings & Good Stuff :A :T- DH on the plane and en route home :j
- The dinner set (part) as an addition to my existing one arrived, exactly as described, very happy ebayer! :T
- Updated my photo storage (s) today. I'm very sad/anally retentive and have all my photo's stored in very specific folders (year, followed by information etc) . I store all of these in 3 (yes 3) locations. NAS drive, external hard drive and my dad's server (he's an IT geek, just like DH which is probably why they get on so well)….just in case two happen to fail at the same time! It sounds crackers to most I'm sure, but DH and I (I'm a non tecchy tho!) both work in IT, so I know these things do and can happen ….and it makes me happy
:D - Hump day is over with - hurrah! This week is taking soooo long, always does tho when your due to go on leave!

Ooops - MIA for a while - back on the wagon again now though :money:
MFW Goodness :money:- Apart from Xmas food shopping - not really spent anything in the last ~two weeks :T
- Plently of TT's - ~£15
- £co payment of £24.16 - paid into the pot fund
- S/sheet's and £££ planning all up to date and on track :A
The Not So Good - Spent quite a lot on food in Dec
- we (i) cooked for 8 people on xmas day, had friends round for meals a few times and also had the girls round for drinks/buffet. We also ate turkey for a week after xmas day with lots of different recipes - was fun, but glad it's over with , Turkey Overload for sure:eek: Also everything was homemade from scratch, pretty much for all noted above 'occasions', and it feels like I've spent most of Xmas prepping/cooking - but have thoroughly it tbh!
- The Snow (which is good :j) , but essentially we were snowed into our village for 3+ days(even with our 4x4 it would have been silly to attempt to get out) - which is making me consider buying snow tyres (for the 4x4)….This will be an expensive option and needs some careful consideration, based on many different factors - not least the frequency in which we get (or not as the case maybe!) snow…?
- DH got a 'trainer' thing for his road bike, which essentially means he can cycle indoors on it (sure you fitness people will know the correct terminology!) - anyhow, DH used it yesterday for the first time in my office (he stores his bike there until project garage is completed end of march) on my cream carpet - multiple big oil stains…..one very very unhappy Mrs JHH :wall:
- Paid a visit to Bicester Village - DH wanted a specific laptop bag and it was 30% off there. I bought 2 x new dresses and shoes (this has come out of my 'monthly' allowence, so techincally no worse of but it could have gone towards OP pot)
Blessings & Good Stuff :A :T- Loved spending time with family and friends over the festive period - feel very blessed :A
- Xmas decs/tree came down Sat 27th - we'd had it all up a month by then and I was sick of seeing it!

- SNOW!! I love love love the stuff, incidentally so did the hounds and hours of fun were had frolicking
- As above, lots and lots of lovely walking with the hounds over the last few weeks - throughly enjoyed it
- It’s a new year - and lots to look forward too - not least the lighter nights soon

Hi JHH and happy new year to you. It sounds like you've had a wonderful Christmas. I'm very jealous that you had snow! I wonder if we'll get anymore before winter is over :j
I too am looking forward to the lighter nights mainly so I can get out and take the dog for a walk or go for a run without being in fear of my life :rotfl: I also live in a village, and we have no street lights
Best of luck for your 2015 goals

MFW Goodness :money:- Saved over £500 on car insurance :Tx 2 and house ins, very suprising as we got the best deals on the market last year!
- Continuing to be as frugal as possible, where possible
- Operation "run the freezer down" is commencing . Several reasons, mainly because we need to put a new seal on the door to see if that stops it frosting internally as much. We don't want to do this with a freezer full of meat! Also I am trying to not store as 'much' food in the freezer and just keep enough + a little spare (we generally have enough to keep us going for 3 months +!) and this will hopefully help with the ££ not having as much food sat in the freezer all the time, but actually eating some of it!
The Not So Good - Spent £15k on a field :o:eek::o:eek::eek::eek:
- Stopped Surveys - I was struggling to justify the length of time it took to complete vs actual pay out (which thus far is none!)
- Have been MIA from MSE for over a month *hangs head in shame*

Blessings & Good Stuff :A :T
- We got the Field ! It went to sealed bids and were a little worried as we didn't feel in control and were not sure our bid would secure it. We ended up going 'in' with our neighbours either side to try and ensure we got it. The main reason was, so that we could avoid other people doing things we didn't like on it (our gardens back directly onto it and our wall is very low) as we have a lovely view, and didn't want this spoiling.
- Out for a few bevoirs & catch up with a friend which is long overdue!

- Off out with the besty early PM tomorrow and her adorable rugrat - desitnation tbc! :T
- Out to see DH family tomorrow night! He's out cycling all day, which will give me time to potte around the house for some of the day

This weeks 'To Do' List :exclamati
- Send postal check and forms for credit report for DH and myself :money:
- Clean silver coffee/tea pot etc (with spangly new silver cleaner purchased!) :T
- Pop Aldi/Wilko
