How much shoul dit cost for a plumber to add radiators

I just wanted to gauge your thoughts on this. We have found a nice plumber. We want 2 radiators added to the upstairs of our house. They are going other side of an thick internal solid wall (but I believe are being trunked off existing radiators in the relevant rooms). A third radiator is being swapped for a new style radiator (ie a straight swap). I have been told that the system needs to be drained down and that the work will take 2 (possibly 3 days) and will cost about £2000 (and possibly more if it tips into 3 days) . This seems a lot for 3 new rads even if 2 are being installed, We are in Hertfordshire. Does this sound at all correct? No idea how much work is involved but 3 days to do this sounds a lot. Thanks.

!!!!!!! I had a brand new Worcester Bosch 34CDI boiler installed way away from the mains so had to be routed up through floor boards etc inc new pipework. New rad in a completely new location, all working perfectly. £2350.
After, I wanted another rad added in our extension which they took from a current radiator and fitting including rad, pipework etc ws £250.
£2k for your quote sounds OBSCENE!0 -
Ridiculous price. Not impossible to do that in a day, go elsewhere and get a few other quotes0

Sounds like he may not actually want the job!

We have found a nice plumber.
No you haven't. Blimey, I could do that myself within a day, maybe a weekend at a push, and I'm just an average DIY-er. A professional plumber would certainly do it in less than a day.
System needs draining down - yeah, so what ? No big deal. Find another "nice" plumber, this time someone that doesn't wear a Stetson.0 -
It would not be unreasonable if the radiators are stainless or alloy items costing £800 each!! More details neededHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

We recently had 5 quotes from plumbers to channel out some concrete floor and remove a huge radiator & put a smaller one on the next wall along (so that we could install French doors) and then "make good" the floor with more concrete so that we could re-tile after our new door & kitchen were installed.
Quotes for the entire floor work/plumbing varied from £279-£1035!!!! We ended up asking our builders to channel out the floor and make it good afterwards...& only paid a plumber £147 to drain the system & add copper pipe along the channel & fit the new rad.

I'll do it for £1995
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
We're getting a new boiler, 6 radiators, one towel rail radiator and fitting for approx £3.5k. Although we might be getting an unusually good rate on that as the fitter is a friend of the family.
Ask for a breakdown of costs. Or just laugh and move on.8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.0 -
