draft contracts and rude solictior raising enquires

Just to play devil's advocate....
Indeed. How can she possibly give you any indication of an Exchange date at this early stage? Any date she gave you (even if she used words like 'possible' 'maybe' 'target' would just get you excited and expect that date.My solicitor received the draft contracts on the 3rd of October for a leasehold property we are purchasing. She said she is still waiting for the vendor's solicitors to respond to her enquires.
This is fairly normal. Once she has all the documentation you need (contract, replies to Enquiries, Searches etc) she'll send you a pack with everything in it.
Once she is happy all of her enquires are dealt with will she then send me the draft contracts??
Yes. If the replies to certain enquiries are unsatisfactory, she will pursue the seller on your behalf. That's her job. Once she is satisfied (she is the expert!) she will forward to you.
I have asked her lots of questions and she isn't very friendly and very blunt.
Cannot commen without knowing the questions and answers.
In fact I' am scared to ask her anything now.
This says more about you, than her.
She also completely forgot that I told her it was okay to go ahead with the searches two weeks ago.
Did you do this in writing?
And she said 'it was impossible' for her to have the time to put a note on the system because she is so busy.
Do you mean a note about the searches? If this relates to a phone conversation, well, that's why instructions are best given in writing.
She also hasn't told me what the enquiries are
Soliciors use a standard set of enquiries. You'll see them when she has received satisfactory replies.
and cant give me a possible date for exchange.
She will only discuss dates once she is close to being able to Exchange
If you'd like to see the Enquiries:

You are not dealing with Royalty, put this paid agent in their place. You are paying her to perform a service in the same way you would pay a skip hire company.
The "paid agent" is paid to progress the conveyance process. It sounds like they have done that and cannot progress further until the other side responds.
They are not paid to spend time chatting and being nice on the phone. That might be valued by some customers but is not necessarily part of the service offering!
In my experience the most efficient solicitors are those who cut out all the niceties and stick to the important issues and yes, they tend to appear blunt or even rude.0
