Default 2006, no longer on CR, how can I settle?

Defaulted on 2 credit cards 2006. One paid off as provider agreed to reduced payments, other did not, made token payments since. Remaining balance on other account sold to wescott last week. If I pay or make an arrangement with them are there any options that would allow Wescott to register something on credit file? Over six years so no entry and credit score very good. Basically, how do I pay this and avoid a negative entry being made???
Thanks

They can't put a default on your file twice. Once it's over six years and the original default has dropped off, that's it.0

One the account drops off with the original default, there should never be a sign of the account on your credit report again. Paying it off now does not change that one bit. Once gone that is it.
