Hi, I have an acer aspire 7520 running on windows 7
I can be just browsing, using google chrome, then my screen just goes black and shuts down, i then have to press the power button to restart it.
Any ideas what's causing this problem and how to fix it please?
Thank you

sounds like it's overheating, you need to strip it down, clean the fan and heatsink out, and rebuild it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
+1 to the above.
Does the fan sound like it is running full pelt?0 -
Thanks both, i will have a look at the fan, about the heatsink, will i need some type of paste? which type please?
Also, no, not noticed any change in the fan noise

If it's anything like my laptop inside then you'll not need to remove any heatsink from any chip. With mine I remove the fan from the heatsink to get access to clean out the dust from the heatsink.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, so ...
Note: Your laptop may not be so easy to take apart to access the HS/fan.
Regarding fan noise ... does it sound like the fan is having to work hard? (Of course, it could be that the fan is not running which may be why you've not noticed any change in sound. Or it could be the fan has been running full pelt for so long that the noise you hear now is "normal").0 -
hi, thank you for the photo, mine is a little like yours, i am able to remove the fan quite easily as i have done it before, no, honestly, the fan is working, i hear it quietly in the background.

my money's on a furry slug between fan housing and heatsink grille......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

A can of compressed air is the best thing to use to spray out all the dust0

no it's not, if you blow the fluff back into the fan, it just blocks up the same place again before long - the fluff needs removing completely......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Thanks everyone
I Have taken the fan out, given it a good clean, it's not making load noises, it's not overheating, but my laptop still keeps shutting down, i ran a sfc/ scannow, no problems found, i did get a message that there is a hardware problem, but can't find what it is, i have reinstalled NVIDIA drivers but it's still happening, any ideas please?
Help?
