Damp spots and cracking paint??

Hi,
We moved in to our new terraced house in Feb of this year and redecorated down stairs.
In the last month, two large cracks running from left to right on a party wall at the front of the house and now a few suspicious looking dark circles on the dining room wall, again party to the house next door. Patches are 3/4 of the way up the wall.
We have decided to get someone in to look at it but are unsure who to ask? Just get a surveyor or a builder? I'm sure that if we got a builder he is going to say work is needed even if not.
Also, can anyone recommend anyone in the Edmonton area?

When was this house built ?
Solid plaster or plasterboard walls ?
What is the width, depth and length of the cracks roughly ? Are the cracks getting noticably wider or longer ?
Are the circles mould that have been painted over and are now showing through ?
As has been said pictures might help. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
