Will BG install cavity wall only and not loft Insulation?
Hi.
We've been in our new house 12 months. It has loft insulation but no cavity. Its a detached house and there is render to the front only.
I phoned BG today to ask about getting it done and they said they knew we already had loft insulation! How?
They asked us to find out how thick it is to see if were eligible for any more.
How do measure the thickness of inulation? Do you squash it and measure the thickness?
If we can't have any loft then that's fine, but would that mean were excluded from wall cavity?
Thanks

They'll still do your cavity insulation (tell them before the appointment though to avoid any hidden charges).
Unsure about measuring though...0 -
They can see the EPC report from when you bought your property.. that normally shows what level of loft insulation you have.
I bought my property in 2013, and I applied for BG insulation back in april - I asked about the loft insulation but they could see from the EPC i didnt qualify for it. I had 140mm insulation. they can only top up anything thats 100mm or less.0 -
Hi, its definitely 100mm?
Does the EPC not include cavity wall?

No, you don't squash it, measure the thickness as it is.
It'd be like going to buy a yard of elastic and the sales assistant stretching it out to measure it. You'd end up with about 9":rotfl:0
