Hi All,
Bit of a complicated situation and i am getting no help from the benefits office.
My Situation: I have just finished a teacher training course (PGCE) where i received a bursary (not a student loan) of £666 a month for 9 months (Oct-Jun). I am now 38 weeks pregnant and have tried claming income support (as was told by job centre that this is what i was entitled too) Have recieved a phone call today saying i am not entitled to income support as the bursary is calculated over 52 weeks, therefore i can not claim anything until the end of September???
I just can not get my head round this, is there nothing i can claim? i have had no money coming in from anywhere and havent had since the beginning of June (i live with my dad). How can they calculate my bursary over 52 weeks when i have a letter saying i would receive 9 monthly installments and my course end date of 1st July. The bursary is/was classed as a wage not a loan. I obviously can't claim job seekers as i am about to have a baby anyday now.
Sorry to rant on i have just been so upset all morning as i can not seem to get any information from anyone. I just don't know how i am going to survive until the end of September as this has a knock on effect on everything e.g i now can not claim sure start grant or healthy start vouchers.
I would really appreciate any advice
Thankyou
