Kitchen Island Unit Quote

Hi,
We've just bought a new build and want to add some extra storage to the kitchen and have decided on an island unit. Its a shame we didn't think about this during the build phase...but until we actually saw the the kitchen after it was completed we didn't realise how big it was!
The kitchen is from Paula Rosa/Manhatten Kitchens, and we already upgraded the doors via the developer from the standard spec to their group H price range (http://prmf.co.uk/catalogue.html#H)
The island will consist of:
1x 900mm base unit with two deep pan drawers
1x 300mm base unit with full height door
2x 450mm reduced depth base units with full height doors
1x 300mm feature wine rack with chrome bottle supports
2x white gloss side panels to match the doors
2500mm x 150mm continuous MFC plinth & sealer
900mm x 1244mm double postformed laminate worktop & 2x laminate edges
- All doors/drawers are white gloss with stainless steel effect handles
- All units come fully assembled, complete with hinges and handles. Base and tall units will require plinth to be fitted.
The quote is £1,770 and includes delivery but not fitting.
Thanks for any comments...I've no idea whether this is reasonable or not so would be really happy for any insights

That very expensive for that level of vinyl/foil kitchen.
Have you not thought about mixing up the island with a different colour finish?
if so go to someone local to yourself and make the island a little more different.
If you get the same colour, say white, from a different supplier it will not be a 100% match0 -
Hi, thanks for your feedback.
We really need to keep the same colour units - its a north facing kitchen so we need to stick with white units to reflect as much light as possible.
We've managed to save £150 off the price by changing the end panels to standard instead of gloss (should look ok - that's what we have on the other units) and a reduction of the delivery charge if we can help with the unloading. I'm guessing though that if we want the two parts of the kitchen to match then we're kind of over a barrel here.
They've pretty much quoted what we asked for, but haven't been very forthcoming on alternatives that might be cheaper. The most expensive element is the 900mm pan drawer unit (40% of the total cost) - if we could find another solution for pan storage then I guess we might be able to save there but it would be a big compromise as pan storage is one my main issues in the new kitchen.0 -

Replace the drawer unit with a cupboard and adjustable shelve(s). Will save money and have greater storage capacity.0 -

Do you mean a normal cupboard with shelves?
Yes. Compare the price of the 2 drawer unit (£708.00) to the same sized standard cupboard and decide if the price difference is worth the perceived convenience. Only you can decide if it represents value for money to you.
Personally I would opt for something similar to this.0 -

I've been doing some digging and have found a door manufacturer who makes a door which looks identical to ours - including the glass effect edge. I've contacted one of their local dealers for a quote, and we could even buy the doors direct from the manufacturer (if they are indeed a match) so it looks like we may have a few options after all0
