Is there another way to descale Avent Steam Steriliser instead of using citric acid

Hi
I'm hoping to get some advice about descaling my steam steriliser. It's in serious need of descaling. The last time was almost a year ago.
I've used up the small sachets of citric acid that came with the Avent steam Steriliser. I guess I could get more citric acid from the pharmacy but was hoping to use something more `natural'. Has anyone had success with using something different, like vinegar, for descaling.
Thanks.

Whats unnatural about Citric acid? Citric acid is an organic acid found in citrus fruits and is not harmful to the environment.0 -
warm vinegar works quickly but smells really strong. I would use 50% vinegar and 50% hot water and stick it in the garden for 10 minutes.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We used bottled lemon juice to clean ours and it was fine (also smelled nicer than vinegar)Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?

Try adding Calgon
Don't use calgon, it can cause problems, breaking down any plastic/rubber bits.
As someone said citric acid is the acid found in lemons/citrus fruits. I just use lemon juice and water solution (50/50) pure it in and switch on, just till it starts to make steam, then I turn it off and rinse it out. You can use vinegar (acetic acid) as well, but it smells.0 -
you can't get more natural, luv.0
