My very skinny Autistic son has a liking to Mc Donalds Chicken Nuggets so much so its costing a fortune.

Where can I buy virtually exactly the same nuggets but a fraction of the price?

The closest we have found so far are Tesco frozen battered chicken nuggets.

Just to say to all you judging Jamie Oliver fans how unhealthy they are. We know. Please don't judge as he is very sensitive to food to say the least and they are virtually one of the only sources of protein we can manage him to eat.

Thanks for your replies in advance.

Gino's Battered Nuggets in Morrisons and Tescos in the asian section are very close.

I fully understand your problem my Autistic son is the same, but even if you try to buy something different and you hind the bag it come with, you know your son will smell it first and if it does smell right, he is not going to eat it. It will have to taste and smell like the real thing
  • Could you become a mystery shopper for McDonald's? There's a thread about mystery shopping under the Work & Benefits/Up Your Income part of the forum. Gapbuster currently offer McDonald's mystery shops. You have to do them alone, but if you did a drive through you could take them home for your son, having made money on the meal! They regularly offer £8-£20 per assignment, but it does involve timing the whole experience to the second and doing a survey at home which takes 15-30 minutes.

Thanks Gigery I am sure the OP would be very grateful.

I hope we've all helped, but as the OP didn't come back to the thread, I guess we'll never know.

    Shame really.

Thanks you have all helped and I am very grateful. The thing is he has gone off them now. Aint that just the way things go? The spend on them is not so high anymore or the inconvenience.

There is a book Cant Eat Wont Eat by Brenda Legge which describes the problem beautifully. However, we are now under the Challenging Behaviour team so hopefully they will be able to increase the variety he eats. But i am not going to hold my breath!!!

I know how you feel, our 5yo ASD son has only just widened his menu from milk; weetabix; yoghurt; and one flavour of baby puree; he'll now consider buttered white toast, and wotsits. I have that book :)
