Where are you getting 180 days from?

PayPal's own Buyer Protection page states 45 days.

The only reference to 180 days is for a CC chargeback.

    Sec 13.5b, -
    https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full?locale.x=en_GB

chargebacks can be longer than 180days, or not at all if paid via paypal, depends on the card company.

You are correct, it didn't come into force per say for Paypal until June, but, I had a claim from prior to that date, outside of the then current rules. Paypal adapts. Not always according to it's own policy.

Chargebacks on Paypal with some CC companies can be made up to 6 years from purchase.

true, some card companys allow longer chargebacks, but some dont allow them at all for payments via paypal.

Another good reason for not trusting paypal, but its fine if the "adaptation" of the rules is in your favor eh lol

If these companys cant even follow the rules they have, nobody should be surprised when sellers/buyers dont either... no wonder ebay is in the state it is now:rotfl:
  • Please don't assume I am trying to con the ebay seller here, changing the keyboard is simple with 4 push tabs to remove it, I have not opened the laptop or changed anything inside. The laptop is not used very often and looks like new. I expect this is a manufacturing fault.

You shouldn't have tinkered with it. There are also two M2.5 x 7mm long screws securing the keyboard, and it is possible, easily I might add, to break the hinged securing rail holding in the keyboard ribbon cable.

It is possible you replaced a faulty keyboard with a good one, but caused another fault by over enthusiastic workmanship.

Take a step in to self diagnosis and repair and you take a leap in to no returns.
