Allocated parking space query

Wasn't sure where to post this but...
We live in a block of flats and all have our own allocated parking space outside in the car park along with a number of visitor parking spaces. The parking space is included in my flat's title deeds.
Now I'm asking this on behalf of my neighbour who is an older gentleman and I feel a bit sorry for him as for over a week now someone has been parked in his allocated space. He has put a note on their windscreen asking them nicely to park in the visitor parking provided but I do not think they have even been back to the car as the window has been opened since it arrived.
Is there anything he can do? In my opinion it's basically the same as someone parking in my driveway if I had one and like I said it's been well over a week now.
Boyfriend thinks he should use the open window to let the handbrake go and wheel the car to another parking space but I'm pretty sure that would be frowned upon :rotfl:

What would you do if someone parked on your drive?
Just deal with it in the same way.
Take the handbrake off and move it.0 -
It is a bit of a crap situation! Is the old guy having to park far away? I wouldn't take the handbrake off and move it. You don't know who owns the car and what repercussions there could be.
I would hang on until the car moves and see if it occurs again and if it does try to come sort of resolution then.
How old is the car? Does it look abandoned? Seems a bit strange for a car to be sat so long with the window open! You could ring the police just to check its not been reported as stolen?0 -
Are the doors locked?. It may be stolen and abandoned. As above, ask the police.0

Try contacting your Police Community Support Officer, if you have one. They will most likely deal with this type of situation. Also, can't anyone find out the owner of a car, for a fee, if they provide a good reason for doing so? This might be needed, if the car stays there for a long time.0

I'd report it as an abandoned car. It sounds like it is and, one way and another, will get things moving.
I've done that before now back in my last house, ie where there was an abandoned car in some of our visitors parking spaces. It got removed.0 -
The police will be obliged to move a burn out.
Not suggesting anything just saying. :whistle:0 -
Thanks for the speedy replies! I thought reporting it to the police may be an option and I had thought myself that it could of been abandoned as the window has been left open and let's just say we haven't had the greatest of weather in Glasgow!0
