Can I paint brown brick tiles in my kitchen?
Fraise
I have square shaped brown bricks as a splash back above my work tops and oven. They're qypquite decorative, and are fitted in a diamond kind of pattern, but I don't like them..they're too dark. Could,I paint them? And if so, what sort of paint would I need? Gloss or sheen?
Someone said I should leave them as he thinks they look quite nice, and I don't want to ruin them, but I just want to brighten up my kitchen.
Thanks in advance

You can buy tile paint in DIY stores. I'm not a fan of the finished result of painting tiles, but I'm sure you can make up your own mind

Lots of tile paint options as mentioned in DIY stores. I'm not a fan of the look but it is a quick way to refresh tiles and it can look 'okay'. You can be left with brush strokes though and runs, depends how patient you are.
If you do try it, make sure you thoroughly clean/de-grease the tiles or it will cause issues with the paint. Personally, I love tiling, its pretty easy - and can be very cheap. I recently re-did my kitchen in metro style tiles, incredibly cheap (in fact the adhesive cost more, depends on area obviously). from memory I think it was around 22p a tile!0 -
You can do whatever you want in your own kitchen. Hate painted tiles myself, but hey it's your decision.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies. But the tiles I have are not proper tiles, they are actually made of brick.
Would painting brick be better than painting tiles? I agree that painted tiles would not look very nice, and I'd sooner just replace them, but the ones I gave are made of real brick.
Thanks in advance
