Bell Car (Admiral Group) Car Insurance?

  • What I get stung with on this is not leaving the car at my home address over night. I often spend the weekend away, not to mention leaving the car at an airport for an extended period of time if on holiday. According to customer service most of my driving is fine, but I have a terrible score for how long my car spends at my 'risk address'. Anyway, I cant do much about that. But bare in mind if you are planning take this policy out, especially if you are going to University etc or thinking of trying to dupe them regarding the home address.

I would be interested to know if anyone has exceeded the mileage stated on their policy. I have 8,000pa so during the 3 month assessment period that works out as 2,000 pro rata. Bell have said that there is a 25% grace offered on this, so I figure a ceiling millage of 2,500 in the 3 months. What will happen if I exceed this? They have said they will adjust the policy (I pay more I assume) but I would like to know how much and will there be some mystery admin fee etc? Has anyone experienced this, as I am weary i may come close to this 2,500 level?
I don't fancy the idea of spending 3 months under the gun, only to be hit with a hefty fee at 3 months - wiping out any saving gained from plug and drive scheme

Did you have a question? You have joined a thread that started in 2014, admittedly it was updated two years ago but you would be better served by starting your own thread and asking your specific question.

Read the paperwork. It will tell you. If you can't find it online before purchase, then remember that you have 14 days to cancel (and receive a pro-rata refund less any setting-up charges) after you receive the paperwork in the post.
  • Thank you for your replies.
    Document says:
"The mileage you have told us is your limit for the policy term. If the Plug & Drive data shows you will exceed this amount by 25%or more, we will contact you and update your policy details with a higher mileage limit which may increase your premium."
It is not explicit enough for me to say with any certainty what the charges might be. Hence asking for any experience people have had with them. Might post a new thread if that's more likely to find someone.
