I am having a major dilemma with a company that I have paid a condsiderable amount of money via my cc to for a course totalling £1200 inc vat. The issue that I am having is that they are witholding my certificate of training (I attended in september). I actually worked for the brand but after 6 weeks of working there decided it wasn't for me due to a number of things that a certain manager had done and said regarding customers and myself, I have crohns disease and with stress it flares up and I was admitted into hospital and wasn't well due to the comments of this manager. So a week after i had completed my training, I subsequently resigned. I emailed a letter detailing why I was resigning and my operations manager accepted it. I then received an email from the HR lady advising that I needed to discuss why I had left (even though I had detailed this in my resignation that they both received) I followed this up with another letter stating the reasons as to why I had left and that there was nothing left to discuss and that as a consumer, and in line with the brand, I would purchase my products etc from them as I was bound by terms and conditions and since then have heard no more since.
I have since been emailing the said company pestering them to send out my certificate as others on my course had received these 2-3 weeks ago and I hadn't had anything. after 5 emails and a not very happy tweet, I have received a response from the office........ only waited 2 weeks for it! to say that as I am an ex employee of the company it would need to be signed off! my response to this was WHY WOULD I NEED THIS SIGNING OFF WHEN I HAVE PAID FULL PRICE AS A CONSUMER FOR THIS COURSE AT £995.00 PLUS VAT AND A FURTHER £495 PLUS VAT TO BECOME A STOCKIST AND ANOTHER £73 ON PRODUCTS THIS WEEK. SO I SHOULD BE SEEN AS A CONSUMER AS I HAVE HAD NO STAFF DISCOUNT NOR HAVE I HAD A FREEBIE!
I received a response from the ops manager then (who has never bothered to contact me since leaving and gave me a one line sentence when I handed my resignation in.)
I am at a loss of what to do next. I feel like I am losing business and I cannot charge the price I should be for the beauty treatment I have paid a fortune for!
Can someone please help me!

Call me old fashioned but wouldn't a phone call be better than emailing and tweeting (how can you complain in 140 characters???)
At least then you can find out exactly what the issues are and discuss them.
I have to say that I think you acted very immaturely in not discussing the employment issues with HR when asked to....you may have given them the reasons but what if they had wanted to discuss options with you?0 -
I have tried to contact them a number of times via phone also. i have left voicemails for HR and for the manager and also spoke to sales a number of times to be fobbed off etc, I guess just got sick of not having anyone call me back. I emailed so that I had documentary proof that I have tried to contact them also.
I discussed the issues in question with a line manager, however not 24 hours later I was told to report into the said Manager, I don't think it's immature to not discuss a grievance with the person who has caused the grievance. or am I wrong on that part also?0 -
Put your complaint whatever it actually is in writing and give them 14 days to respond .After that take advice from your local trading standards office .
Keep the waffle down to a minimum ask for your certificate of training if that's what you require .0 -
It's rather hard without knowin the details.
I think you should speak to consumer direct.
It's not uncommon for a reputable company to ask you to do a leaving interview( I'm not saying this is a reputable company). If you wanted to have one perhaps they could come to your home with a witness present as you find it too stressful?
You use the word grievance but I'm guessing a grievance wasn't raised.
Perhaps they are concerned you will try the " constructive dismissal angle" from the course?
You use the word stockist but also the word consumer, which is a little confusing.
Will you really benefit from having this certificate?0
