He'll need an Audi to do that.
or an M3, or possibly a lexus, or maybe a yaris or two.
I am confused now0 -
S2000 engine isn't exactly well know for its good low down torque. Certainly wouldn't be my towing car of choice.0

You cannot legally fit a towbar to one.
The way the MOTs are going i think that will be on the list of things to come.
They already test its secure and now the electrics are tested.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My son had an S2000 - a great little sportscar, but completely unsuitable for towing. It has a very high revving engine which is designed for high performance, but does not have the torque required for pulling a load..I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

It has the torque for it, it's just isn't located at any sort of reasonable level of rmp, unless you consider 8000rpm reasonable
I can't see his clutch lasting too long :eek:0 -

EVERY towbar fitted to an EU-registered car first registered after 1997 has to be type-approved to be fitted to that car. You might be able to order one from the US or wherever, but that doesn't make it legal to fit or use here.
It is, I believe, possible for a third-party to type-approve towbar fittings, rather than the vehicle manufacturer - Mercedes didn't get type-approval for the Smart, but approved bars are available.
If Honda haven't approved the S2k for towing, then that doesn't mean you can't buy an approved bar for it - but you'd have to be talking to specialist suppliers and the community to get it. Your average Witter dealer won't have one.0 -
If he looks at the (commission) VIN plate under the bonnet/in the door jamb, there are 4 weights on it.
Max vehicle weight
Max train weight (vehicle + trailer)
Max front axle load
Max rear axle load
(the axle loads add up to more than the max vehicle weight to allow for a trailer nose weight, and a bit of uneven loading)
If the max train weight is not there, the vehicle is not type approved to tow anything.
The insurance people and the men from VOSA would take a rather dim view of operating the vehicle outside those figures.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I had an S2000 for about 7 years - it was my main car and I loved it. But towing with it  Is he crazy ? That's way beyond stubborn.0
