I've tried all sorts, including this, and being left handed myself it's a pain in the rear.

imo it's not worth the money.

The best way of making curls for me is , tin foil and cheap straighteners. sometimes I use spray on setting lotion as well.
wind your hair round your finger, cover with foil, do all head, then use straighteners on the foil to set the curl.
Leave to cool, bend head back and remove foil, separate curl and hey presto.

    loads of videos on youtube.

That's what I wanted for my birthday and we're currently in the process of getting the money back after my OH was silly and didn't check if it was a registered supplier!
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

i bought this my eldest last year, if your daughter has past shoulder length hair its not worth having as it gets stuck in the curler and then burns,
    much prefer curling wands x

my hair is down to my bra strap and it works ok - just need to use a bit smaller sections
  • Thanks for all the replies.

I think I'm going to wait a bit. My daughters hair is long and thick. I've just been looking on youtube and the ladies in all the videos have much shorter hair. I may resort to giving money at xmas and just getting a few smaller bits for her to open. This is on her list, but I'm not sure it's worth the money after reading replies on here and I hate wasting money.
I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea

It might be worth your time phoning round some of the hairdressers in your area and asking if any of them use them and paying for your daughter to get her hair styled by them using the curl secret. This would show the effect it can have and if it is suitable for your daughters hair.

Do any of her friends have one already? I borrowed one from a friend and although I loved the curls, I find a wand easier.

In that case if you do decide to buy and try it. Then Qvc is your best bet as they offer a money back guarantee until 25/1/15 for items bought as a present. She could use it for a couple of weeks after Xmas and if she is disappointed you could send it back for a refund of the price you paid, it will just have cost you p&p there and back to try it.

I posted similarly on here about two months back. I was convinced by all the good reviews and and vids to buy it - I have two wands but aren't good at using them so this looks very appealing.

It's £119 everywhere and has been since I've been keeping an eye on it. They may drop the price for Christmas I suppose.

I almost bought it off good old Amazon when it was about £20 cheaper than everyone else but looking at the reviews there were complaints of it theirs being fakes so decided I'll stick to that list of the website of the authorised stockists.

If I see it go down, I'll let you know.
