    You have got two members of staff there, each taking different interpretations, both of which must, surely, be reasonable?

    :eek: That's my favourite word :D 'reasonable' the most open to interpretation word in the history of the world......ever!! I love exploring others views of 'reasonable'. In itself it more open to personal thoughts than any other word I know :D
    'reasonable doubt'........'reasonable force' etc etc......I have been searching my whole adult life for the answer to 'What is reasonable......' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Well technically you are not wrong or right :p iif you took your 7 bottles to the till thinking (due to the signage) that you were entering into a contract that stated 6+ bottles then you'd have a winnable argument. As I said, the signs are so ambiguous, you'd have a winnable argument whatever. You only need to enter the contract with what you believe to be the terms ;) as long as you can back that belief up......which you can with the bad sign.
    I could go further and say that Morries are effectively saying you can only have 25% off 6 bottles and anything over that (whether multiples or not) should be full price.......because the signs could also mean that :D

    You should have been a lawyer :p.........you're not, are you? :eek: :rotfl::rotfl:

    Not quite:D:rotfl:.

    As for "winnable argument" though, that is one thing. The law's all theory - actually getting the staff to honour an interpretation of buying 7 is a different matter...

    Technically the contract is as soon as they scan the goods. So, if they scanned 7, you thought 25% off the whole lot, and then don't get that (just 25% off 6, presumably the computer would pick the cheapest six if there were different prices, and full price on the seventh) - but I suppose you could give them "your price", your name and address and leave "under protest" and then it's up to them to sue for any extra they claim to be owing. Ball in their court, they'd probably lose! But actually getting that done... in practice, it's different.

    (Especially if you have Asperger's and little or no ability to argue or persuade anyone over anything:(:rotfl:.)

    That said, I wouldn't want strict law to be enforced on every occasion. My T Eday Value Cheese got scanned and, at that point, I was technically committed to paying for it - but my coupon not accepted. Still liable to pay in pounds and pence cash! Member of staff simply put it aside (to be returned to shelf I assume) - wonder if they were entitled to appropriate what was now my property when I have a duty to pay for it?, even if I have not yet done so - an ordinary contract and payment may be later on - but, just like we scan anything, price does not come up favourable and we change our mind - real life does not always work according to strict law. Bet they've sold that specific individual pack of cheese on the shelf now - the exact pack that I had happened to pick up - could be them committing theft! And I still obliged to pay. Property being held in a constructive trust for me until I pay - it's still mine! I never pay - me appropriating from them, no intention of paying and keeping and using beyond what was reasonable to the extent of amounting to "outright theft" within the Theft Act 1968. My property in it even though it is/was in their physical possession. Hopefully though the matter was pragmatically resolved - I'm not paying, they're not giving it to me, it's remained still theirs to sell.
  • Its £10 in Sainsbury's according to MSM. If bought in Ms and it compares, I think it will work out at £7.49 (3,000 bonus points gives you £3 back). I hope I've got that right, if not happy to stand corrected.
    I thought it was £7.00 ie Sains price less £3.00
    I may be wrong too:rotfl::rotfl:

    In that case you wouldn't argue in the shop with someone who would be baffled by what you were on about. You'd go home and compose an email to their HO and make it so correct they'd pass it to their legal department :D :rotfl::rotfl: (if you could be bothered over 25% off one bottle of wine!)

    To be honest, I think it'd work on anything over 6? I don't think the tills are sophisticated enough to do it any other way, but that's just my theory.

    And of course the law is all theory......it wouldn't work if it was anything else :p :rotfl::rotfl:

    *feeling a Saturday night conversation coming on, on a Tuesday now :eek:*
