It occurred to me today that maybe this row was more serious than the normal run of the mill spats and what if that is it, I wont see her again or get a response from her- maybe not even the usual Christmas, Birthdays and crisis times. She does come from a family renowned for holding life long grudges.
In the meantime I will just keep going with the usual facebook messages and emails etc and mostly carrying on as normal as if last weekend never happened.
Eventually things will cool down and she will get to the other side of whatever problem she is working through and then maybe we will get a phone call.
Or maybe not.
It made me wonder if anyone else had kept going with a one sided relationship for years on end?
I have a few friendships a little like this....I just let them run, send the odd card, like their facebook messages etc but dont then actively seek to meet up....with at least one friend I have no idea what sparked the distancing and put it down to us living in different areas and being at different points on our life...my children are older than her's so we drifted a little with that bond.
Sometimes I think I would like to be in more contact but after a while you get on with your respective lives and move forward...at least in sending chrissy cards and a nice message inside you are hopefully showing that the friendship is still on the back burner....you never know your friend might appreciate you one day and pick up where you left off.

OMG, very long winded.
Received my voucher after 3 weeks. I haven t used it yet though. I might go to the big M & S store at Cheshire Oaks nearer Christmas
I wanted to try out the credit card though so went into my local one armed with one of my offers of £10 voucher for £5 and bought 2 boxes of biscuits on half price and a Christmas cake . They came to £10.50 so used my card and got a till spit for 20% off veg , shame it wasn t choccy lol

Here is a philosophical question - has anyone kept going with a one sided friendship over a long period of time?
I had a massive falling out with a friend last weekend - no idea what the real problem was but everything I did, said, thought, every suggestion I made was wrong - she is under a lot of stress so I think that is the under lying issue.
I did apologize twice but I still don't really know what I did wrong. In the end she stormed off and went home - I think she did not even want to be there in the first place.
I am very thick skinned and took no offense at what was said superficially (although its upset me all week as we have had a good relationship for years)
since then Ive heard nothing from them - this is normal though, when she is busy with work it can be weeks between phone calls or face times.
My own gang who all live far far away on the other side of the galaxy are often out of contact for long periods of time - the usual work/social life stuff but I still keep in touch with them, however busy and one sided - most days I send them funny emails and jokes, photos of the cats or the garden, recipes, links to interesting news articles etc.
I know I am only on the outside of their lives now but at least they know I am still alive and still here as and when they fancy honouring me with a phone call or a chat or even a visit
And I do the same with the friend - keep in touch as and when as I do with my own brood. Again she lives on another planet, busy job, social life etc.

I used to be the one appeasing everyone but seen error of my ways when daughter was ill. All the running and support I had gave out didn't come back.
I know have less people to deal with. Life to short to appease other people.
