Resident's parking permit slid off the dashboard and I got a ticket

Hi guys
Woke up this morning and looked out the window - my car has a parking ticket. Ace.
Thing is, I was parked outside my house and I have residents parking.
It seems the permit slid off the dashboard and onto the front seat.
Am I bang to rights or can I contest the ticket? The council would obviously have proof that I am a permit holder...any help much appreciated!

Is it the Council then? Not a private parking ticket?
If the former, then just register & post on pepipoo (DO NOT POST WITHOUT PICS OF BOTH SIDES OF THE PCN!) as they are the experts on helping almost everyone succeed in Council PCN appeals:
