I have received a letter from Barclaycard in response to my asking them to cease harassing me by 'phone stating: "Our Terms and Conditions and The Banking Code permits us to contact customers by whatever means are available if a contractual agreement is broken and no payment received."

Total Codswallop - JCB.   Even Barclaycard MUST respect the law.

  • Since my last post I have contacted the Office Of Fair Trading and my local Trading Standards Office and lodged a complaint against Sainsburys Bank for harassment. I also wrote to Sainsburys telling them what I have done and I faxed it to their Collections Centre in Halifax.

Since sending the fax I have received 4 calls at work from Sainsburys in the course of four-and-a-half hours! Each time I told the caller that I would not discuss the matter on the 'phone, that they should put the matter in writing, that I had lodged a complaint with OFT & TS and that they should pass this information on to their Supervisor. But still the calls keep coming!

Yesterday I told 4 various callers from Sainsburys Bank that I would not discuss the matter by 'phone but they, obviously, took no notice.

I am now resorting to simply pressing the "ignore" button when the Sainsburys 0870 number appears on Caller Display!

When Lloyds rang my husband at work he told them that he worked for a call centre he could loose his job taking personal calls so asked the number to be taken off the list. They have to do this!

rrwfotr. I see your point but why should I change my long-established number because Sainsburys Bank can't behave correctly?

Can I ask how you contacted trading standards? can I do it online?

Creation are still doing the same to me, they told me 'because the matter was not resolved, they were allowed to call me at least 3 times a day!'

I still haven't heard anything about the 'income & expenditure' form i sent them on 5/7/07, trying to offer them £10 per month, but they can't/won't acknowledge this. Just keep insisting on calling me.

Just google trading standards, enter the town, and it will give you the address and contact details of that particular office.
Personally I would complain to the Trading Standards Office nearest to the address of the company that you wish to complain about.
