PPI Claim possible?

Hi all. Wondering if someone could just help me with something. I took out a mortgage in 2004 with an Ex partner. We split up in 2006, but he kept the house (although re-mortgaged).
I am sure we had PPI insurance at the time, BUT he was self employed, so how would that PPI insurance be affected?
I am going to pull out all the old paperwork etc., but if I put in a claim for a PPI refund because of the self employed issue, how does the pay out (if any) work? Like I say I no longer live at the house or have anything to do with the guy I bought it with at the time.
cheers.

Most MPPI covers the self employed without issue.I am going to pull out all the old paperwork etc., but if I put in a claim for a PPI refund because of the self employed issue, how does the pay out (if any) work? MPPI is a standalone product that is not built into the mortgage. That is one of the reasons most MPPI complaints fail. MPPI is also designed to be set up to match the needs of the couple (unlike loan and credit card PPI). So, you can have 100% coverage on one person or split coverage like 50/50 or 60/40 etc. If the coverage was for him only then you cannot complain about it and you would not receive any financial redress in the event of a successful complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
